THE PLACE: Home décor, paint and lighting are right at home
with design ideas at Sound Interiors. Established 2014 by
Tracey Sitts, the modern store boasts galleries for home
lighting and window treatments as well as paints and stains with
all the tools necessary to apply them. Sound Interiors occupies
the former premises of the Colour Centre, but Tracey expanded
it to almost double the retail space.
THE OWNER: While studying interior design at Fanshawe
College, Tracey worked part-time in a paint store. Following
several years designing kitchens and painting on the side, she
became a full-time painter. After working part-time at a paint
and lighting store, she saw the potential for much more and
eventually opened Sound Interiors. "I've always felt like I was
going to run my own business," she says. "This is the perfect fit
because I have a passion for it."
THE PRODUCTS: Sound Interiors offers top-quality blinds,
drapes and shutters, Ontario-made Sansin stains, Cottage Paint (a chalk-inspired
paint) and a variety of wallpaper is also available. Indoor and
outdoor lighting styles range from casual cottage to modernly
elegant. In the lighting department, Tracey introduced a rustic
style of lamps as well as a vintage industrial line of lighting. "I
look for unique styles that you can’t find anywhere else," she
says. Tracey also brought in home décor, primarily wall art.
THE SERVICES: Sound Interiors offers in-home colour and
lighting consultations as well as shop-at-home window
treatments. Tracey can help clients identify their tastes and style
and find solutions for their interior spaces.
WHAT'S HOT: "Edison-style light bulbs are really popular in all
styles of fixtures right now," she says. LED lights are also moving
briskly. During summer months, rustic, cottage-style fixtures
are in vogue.
